4. Chaperoning Homecoming can be very confounding. I found myself incredulously witnessing many things. Some students who came as a couple started guilefully grinding with other people and then had to be conciliatory towards their original date or they were haughtily retaliated against. I watched some of this, my mouth agape, and eventually walked away. Some were adamant about not dancing and stayed outside the whole time. I know some girls tried to purge themselves the entire week prior in order to fit into their dresses and be tantalizing to their dates. Some who were dancing looked like they were floundering, and if you tried to prattle during the dance, no one could hear you.
