一 形容词比较级最高级规则 1. 一般情况下加-er 或-est :
young-yonger-yongest old –older -oldest tall-taller -tallest small-smaller -smallest 2. 以字母e结尾的形容词,加-r 或- st nice –nicer-nicest safe –safer -safest 3. 重读闭音节词只有一个辅音字母时,应先双写辅音字母,再 加-er或-est. big—bigger -biggest fat—fatter-fattest 4. 以 “辅音字母+y”结尾的双音节词,先改“y”为“i”,再加-er 或-est. early-earlier-earliest thirsty-thirstier-thirstiest

Usage of Comparative and Superlative Degrees of Adj./Adv.
A. 比较级:二者比较用比较级,常与“than”连用 如:He is taller than you. The bike is more expensive than that one. 注意:(1)常用来修饰比较级的词:much, far, even, still, a little, a bit, a lot等。 如:Her mother looks much more beautiful than my mother. (2) much常用来修饰比较级, 而 more 是用来构成比较级。 如:much faster, much more expensive. (3) 比较级+and+比较级. 越来越……。 如:bigger and bigger, more and more interesting

B. 最高级:三者或三者以上比较用最高级,常与表示比较范围的介词in 或of连用。
形容词的最高级前必须加定冠词the. 如:Tom is the tallest boy in his class. This song is the most beautiful of all the songs in this film. 注意:(1) one of the +最高级+可数名词的复数形式。 表示“ 最……之一”。 如:The Yangtze River is one of the longest rivers in the world. (2)the +序数词+形容词的最高级。 表示“第几……” 如:Xiao Ming is the third tallest student in our class.
