We want to help you travel to Costa Rica and have an incredible, life-changing experience Afar Foundation providing partial scholarships for 10 students at OHS. Global Explorers organizing a program featuring a 10-day trip for the group in 2010. Ultimate goal: help you see our world, understand it a little better, and learn something about yourself in the process

Afar Media Foundation Started to help promote cross-cultural exchange among youth from different countries “At Afar Media we believe that travel can change lives for the better” Afar has chosen Global Explorers to help students see “where travel can take them”

www.GlobalExplorers.org Global Explorers Learning Afar Program 2010 Scholarship money for 1 group of students from NY and 1 group from the San Francisco Bay Area Competitive application process to select schools Hope to expand after 2010 (1 st year for the program!) In addition to regular Global Explorers program, students will also learn about journalism skills such as writing, photography and videography

www.GlobalExplorers.org A Typical Travel Day 6:00 –7:30am Sunrise forest hike 7:30 – 9:00am Breakfast – fresh fruit and local fare! 9:00 – 12:00pm Morning Workshop Session – local school visit 12:00 – 1:00pm Lunch – freshly caught fish, rice and plantains 1:00 – 2:30pm Journaling, Reflection and Free Time 2:30 – 5:30pm Afternoon Workshop Session – zip lines! 5:30 – 6:30pm Journaling, Reflection and Roundtables 6:30 – 7:30pm Dinner – something local and delicious! 7:30 – 9:30pm Evening Program – Cloud Forest night hike 9:30 – 10:00pm Wind down and free time 10:00 – 6:00am SLEEP!
