1 Daily Procedures & Expectations Waddell Language Academy

2 Morning Arrival You need to wait in the small gym unless you need to eat breakfast, in which case you go to the cafeteria. (First 7+ days 3-5 goes to auditorium until small gym is cleared of stuff) Students are not to be in the hallways or classrooms prior to 8:00 A.M. Your parents cannot drop you off in the classroom prior to 8:00 for the teacher to watch you. Your parents cannot wait in the hallway with you for the bell to ring at 8:00 A.M.

3 Morning Arrival You will be dismissed from the gyms and cafeteria at 8:00 A.M. You are tardy after 8:15 A.M. (policy) and you must go to the office for a late/tardy pass Late Bus & Car Arrivals students must also get a pass from the office before proceeding to class or to breakfast

4 Buses Your morning bus may not necessarily the same as your afternoon bus. Make that you know how you get home in the afternoon. Late bus passes are issued by the office. Bus Transportation is a privilege and not a right Inappropriate behavior on the bus is referred to the Assistant Principal for the student’s grade level Repeated violations to expected bus behavior can lead to suspension from the bus, and the parent is then obligated to drive their child to school

5 Afternoon Bus Pass Your parent must notify the office in writing and with a contact phone number if you need to ride a different bus. The office will issue the bus pass by 12:00 noon. You must remind your teacher that you need to pick up your bus pass from the Front Office by 2pm.

7 Pledge of Allegiance First said in English, then in a foreign language taught here Classes rotate duty weekly Send 3-6 students everyday to Media Center by 8:00 A.M. Students are to stand still and place right hand over heart.

8 Student Uniforms Required for Elementary Solid colors: Navy, White, Khaki, (Not Brown) Skirts & Shorts must be finger tip length No denim allowed No spaghetti strap tops – 3 finger width No shirts with writing Spirit wear: Any clothing with school logo Sweaters are excluded from uniform policy Shoes must cover 85% of foot. No gladiator sandals Shoes must stay on feet. No changing for different activities

9 Going Places Single file No talking No playing with lockers No knocking on classroom doors No swinging arms, lunch boxes Stop at intersections I will designate the line leader and caboose

10 Elementary Specials Six day rotation schedule Day 1: Technology Day 4: Music Day 2: Media Day 5: Art Day 3: PE Day 6: Dance Special Area teachers are teachers that you need to respect. If you are disorderly, expect consequences from those teachers. When Special Area teachers are absent, there may be a substitute teacher that you must respect also

11 Lunch Time Elementary Times 10:52- 11:22am

12 Cafeteria Procedures Keep your lunch number handy or better yet memorize it Red Plastic Cups = NO TALKING first 10 minutes Green Plastic Cups = FREE to TALK Quietly!!! Lights Out = Students are too loud- SILENCE!!!! You will be monitored by assistants in the cafeteria. Respectful behavior is EXPECTED at all times. Keep the cafeteria neat!

13 Cafeteria Procedure Continue You must : Get utensils, straws, napkins, before sitting at your assigned table You are not to get up and retrieve forgotten items once you arrive at your table. You must raise your hand and ask for permission if you want to get up Two students wipe off the table Two students sweep the floor

14 Lunch Once we leave the classroom to go to lunch, NO ONE will be allowed to go back to the classroom for forgotten items Students missing lunch, forgotten lunch are to use lunch numbers and buy lunch from cafeteria Students bring checks for payment of cafeteria dues and turn in to the cafeteria.

15 Elementary Recess You must stay within your teacher’s line of vision You may bring playground equipment to school but it must be approved by me and shared with the class American football is NOT allowed BULLYING will NOT BE tolerated. REMEMBER THAT RECESS IS A PRIVILEGE!!!!
