35 Cause story #1: EWT & Rhinos Applied innovative methods - the use of avatars as Activists Rhino used to build relationships with Donors and inspire other Activists This approach proved to be very successful for EWT - continuous stream of donations to their projects over the course of 2011 Contributed to a number of proactive interventions

36 Cause story #2: CHOC & The Cows Children’s Haematology Oncology Clinics, established in 1979 Relies heavily on donations from caring corporates, individuals and parents of children with cancer All funds raised are used to provide support (help, equipment etc) Registered on GivenGain in 2011 to empower their independent fundraising army, “The Cows” Grown from few to hundreds of people

37 Cause story #2: CHOC & The Cows A group of passionate, crazy Activists who support CHOC wearing full-body cows suits Participating in sporting events – mostly cycling, running, hiking races In August 2011, The Cows starting registering as Activists on GivenGain, supporting CHOC with the 94.7km cycle race In 100 days, nearly 300 ‘Cows’ registered as Activists on GivenGain, generating an unprecedented amount of over 1 300 000 ZAR in donations for one project

38 Cause story #3: The US & WAT In 2010, the University launched a visionary academic initiative, the HOPE Project GivenGain is used by the University for online donations and fundraising campaigns Other institutions, departments and programmes have joined An organisation responsible for looking after an important part of the local language’s heritage and development – Woordeboek vir die Afrikaanse Taal (Dictionary for the Afrikaans Language), or ‘WAT’ for short Borg ‘n Woord - (Sponsor a Word) campaign – more than 500 000 ZAR University department campaigns on the GivenGain platform
