3 DAS Registration Process Students register with DAS through our Online Services and submit documentation of a disability. DAS determines accommodations based on appropriate documentation from a qualified professional. Students participate in an orientation with a DAS advisor

4 What are Reasonable Accommodations? Accommodations provide equal access, not special treatment or an unfair advantage Once accommodations are determined, we (OSU, DAS, Faculty, instructors) are all legally responsible for their implementation Students play an active role in self-advocating and managing their accommodations; this is a learned process

5 Process for Receiving Accommodations

6 Accommodations Accommodations are individually determined and may include:  Priority Registration  Alternative Testing  Notetaking  E-text/Accessible Formats  Classroom Access  Sign Language Interpreters  Real Time Transcribing  Lab Assistants  Flexibility with Attendance or Assignments  Service Animal/Assistance Animal  Temporary Injury

7 Possible Indicators To Listen For It always takes me so much longer to finish my homework than my friends I have to read things several times and still don’t know what I’ve read I can’t take more than 9 credits and be successful I’ve always struggled in school I’ve always had trouble sitting still I study for hours and know the information and then can’t show what I know on the test I never have enough time to finish my exam
