SciFest Ltd What is SciFest@College? SciFest@College is a series of local one-day science fairs hosted by the Institutes of Technology (IoTs), DCU and St Mary’s College, Derry open to all second-level students and no entry fee Each SciFest@College fair includes a competition and exhibition of projects science talks and demonstrations in the college laboratories information on STEM courses available in the college a prize-giving ceremony SciFest aims to encourage a love of science through an investigative approach to learning and to provide an opportunity for students to display their scientific discoveries.

SciFest Ltd SciFest – Science by inquiry in Action State Problem Look around, ask questions, identify a problem, state a hypothesis Research Gather as much information about the topic as possible Investigate Design and carry out experiments to test the hypothesis. Collect data Analyse Analyse the data, discuss the findings Conclude Come up with a possible solution to the original problem Present findings at SciFest Present

SciFest Ltd SciFest National Final (SciFest@SFI Discover) The SciFest@SFI Discover best project award winners from the 16 regional venues are invited to compete in a national final which takes place in November Each of the best project award winners are presented with a SciFest Excellence in STEM crystal plaque One project is selected by a team of judges to represent Ireland at the Intel international Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF) in May in the USA One project is selected to represent Ireland at the International Environment and Sustainability Project Olympiad (INESPO) in the Netherlands SciFest National Final 2014 One project is selected to attend the Berlin Long Night of Science All the key stakeholders plus teachers, parents/guardians, regional organisers, etc. are invited to the celebrations
