1 By Jake Froschauer How to Make The Perfect iMovie

2 To start with… First of all, you need to click on the iMovie icon in the dock. It is located at the bottom of the screen. It is the black icon in the shape as a star.

3 Create a NEW Project To create a new project, you can click on the rectangular box with the plus sign in it. That will open an unedited iMovie that you will be able to create.

4 Title Your Project A window should pop up and ask to choose your theme. Click on “NO THEME”. This will allow you to choose how you want your iMovie to be and it is great for beginners.

5 Title Your Project You can name your project whatever you would like to unless Mrs. Cavanaugh or Mr. Wallock asks you to name it specifically. Then click create.

6 Starting The iMovie To really start the iMovie, you can drag pictures from the desktop to the area with the four dotted line boxes. You should see it right when it opens.

7 Adding Images After dropping the image to the open area, the image should appear. To edit the amount of time you want the picture to appear, click on the image, then the wheel cog in the lower right hand corner of the picture. Click on the image you want to edit. In this example, it is a picture of the greasers.

8 Editing Images This is the wheel cog. It is the blue square with the arrow pointing downwards.

9 The Dropdown Menu To edit the length of the image, click on Clip Adjustments

10 Duration Then type in the amount of time you want the image to appear in the movie.

11 When you are finished adjusting, click done. Duration

12 What’s Next? When you are done with that, you can begin adding more pictures/videos or you can add transitions, titles for the topic you are covering, or animations. You should try to save them for the end but it is okay to add them.

13 Where To Go To get certain music or jingles in the background, you can click on the drop down menu that says “iMovie Sound Effects”.

14 Folders A bunch of folders should come up. By clicking on those, you can choose how you want to make the iMovie YOUR way.

15 To Add Music To add music, highlight one of the music choices and drag it to the iMovie table. Make sure you drag it so it is right under the image. You do not want it to be dragged in where there is green around the picture.

18 Other Options Some other creations can be made is through the same bar as the music. By clicking on the camera, you can add images by using a flash drive.

19 By clicking on the uppercase “T”, you can add a title page. Other Options

20 Title Pages The title pages are a great way to give the topic that you will be creating through iMovie. You can scroll down and choose a specific title page you want to add to the iMovie.

21 To add the Title Page, you need to click while holding down on it, and drag it to the gray area where the images/musi c is. Title Pages

22 The Window There will be a window that will appear. That’s when you choose which type of title page you want on the project.

23 How to Adjust You can adjust the duration of the clip again by clicking on the same wheel cog and typing in the length.

24 You can change what you want to be said on the title page by clicking on the blue box. How to Adjust

25 Transitions Also, transitions can be made by clicking on the box with the four triangles in the rectangle.

26 Once Again To put in a transition, drag it in between the two pictures/cli ps.

27 Be Very Careful… One of the most important keys to an iMovie is the voiceover. It is one of the hardest process to do while making your project.

28 First… For the first step, click on the little microphone right next to the X.

29 The Window After clicking on the microphone, click on the part of the picture where you want to start the recording. A window should pop up and countdown when it will start.You should try to record in the hallway or a quiet area to get the best results.

30 When To Know If You’re Finished When you are finished recording, click again. A purple bar should appear underneath the spot that is recording.
