1 Click your mouse to continue. The Office Shortcut Bar The Office Shortcut Bar contains program buttons that, when clicked, start new documents or start a program. Options for starting new documents, mail messages, and other items Options for starting Office programs

2 Click your mouse to continue. The Office Shortcut Bar Your Office Shortcut Bar might start automatically when Windows starts. If it starts automatically, it will be docked to one side of the desktop or float in the window.

3 Click your mouse to continue. Starting the Office Shortcut Bar If it doesn’t start automatically: Click the Start button Point to Programs Point to Microsoft Office Tools Click Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar

Starting the Office Shortcut Bar If you try to start the Office Shortcut Bar using the Start menu, you might see a dialog box indicating that you need to install this feature. If this occurs, insert the requested CD in the correct drive, and then click the OK button. You won’t need to install the Office Shortcut Bar again after installing it from the CD.

6 Click your mouse to continue. Customizing the Office Shortcut Bar Click the control menu box on the Shortcut Bar. Click Customize on the shortcut menu that opens. Click the Buttons tab.

7 Click your mouse to continue. Customizing the Office Shortcut Bar Click the check box to the left of the items that you want to add to the Bar. Clear the check box to the left of the items that you want to delete from the Bar. Select or clear items to add or remove them

8 Click your mouse to continue. Customizing the Office Shortcut Bar Use the Move arrows to move items around on the Bar. Move arrows move a selected item up or down

9 Click your mouse to continue. Customizing the Office Shortcut Bar Click the Add File button to add a file to the Bar. When the button is clicked, the file will open. Click the Add Folder button to add an entire folder to the Bar. When the button is clicked, the folder’s contents will open.

10 Click your mouse to continue. Customizing the Office Shortcut Bar Click the Delete button to delete a selected item. Click the Rename button to rename a selected item.

11 Click your mouse to continue. Closing the Office Shortcut Bar If you want the Bar to hide automatically, click the control menu box, and then click Auto Hide on the shortcut menu. To close the Bar, click the control menu box on its title bar, and then click Exit on the shortcut menu.
