Bar Graphs

FOCUS GPS Standard: M6D1b. Using data construct graphs. EU: By creating tables and graphs we are able to represent data visually. EQ: What is the best way to organize my data? Vocabulary: data, bar graphs, double bar graphs
3
About Bar Graphs Bar graphs are used to compare data. Bar graphs must include a title, x and y axes, labels of axes, equal intervals along the axes, and the representation of the data in a bar shape.

Bar Graphs can be oriented either horizontally…
6
or vertically
7
They can be single….
8
or double Math-A-Thon Donations Grade Level
9
Remember…. Double Bar Graphs MUST include a key so that the reader can identify what the bars represent Key

Steps to Creating a Bar Graph Step 1: Find an appropriate scale and interval. The scale must include all of the data values. The interval separates the scale into equal parts. Step 2: Use the data to determine the lengths of the bars. Draw bars of equal width. Step 3: Title the graph and label the axes.
