Our Classroom Rules “The Five Ps”
1. Prompt: Be on time. Enter the classroom quietly. Turn in homework. Immediately go to your assigned seat and begin your Welcome Work. 2. Prepared: Bring all materials, necessary work, and be dressed properly following the dress code. (I will post what you’ll need for class each day on the white board outside my classroom.) 3. Productive : Stay on task. Follow directions. Remain in your seat unless you’ve been given permission to get up. 4. Polite: Be nice to EVERYONE! Swearing, teasing, talking back, and bullying will NOT be tolerated. 5. Patient: Wait respectfully and calmly for your turn. Listen and stay seated when someone else is talking.

Classroom Conduct We will use an online system called Class Dojo as well as a clipboard to document your behavior. The following consequences will be used for weekly conduct marks: 1 mark (in a week) – WARNING 2 marks (in a week) – WARNING (Teacher/Student Conference) 3 OR MORE marks (in a week) – Disciplinary Note sent home DISCIPLINARY NOTES WILL BE SENT HOME ON FRIDAYS, MUST BE SIGNED BY A PARENT/GUARDIAN, AND RETURNED TO ME ON MONDAY. If a student receives a 2nd weekly disciplinary note in a nine-week period, parent contact (by phone or ) will be made. Let’s Begin Procedure Students are to enter the classroom in a quiet and orderly manner and go directly to their desk. Once a student has placed their books at their desk, if pencils need to be sharpened, student are to do so before class begins so there is not any disruption to the teacher or fellow classmates during instructional time. Upon taking their seats, students should immediately note the day’s class work and homework assignments on the board and copy these down in their agenda. When this is completed, students are to begin on welcome work without being told to do so.
19
Agenda Check Each student is given an agenda the first week of school. It is to be brought to each class EVERY DAY. Students are to write all assignments and homework in their agendas daily. Agendas will be checked each Friday.
20
Homework Homework is given on an as needed basis.
It counts as 10% of the nine-week grade. Homework assignments are checked/collected at the beginning of the class period and are due the day after it was assigned (unless the teacher instructs otherwise). NO HOMEWORK IS ACCEPTED LATE UNLESS THE STUDENT WAS ABSENT OR IF PRIOR APPROVAL FROM THE TEACHER WAS GRANTED. If you do not turn in homework, you will receive a negative mark in Class Dojo.
21
Make Up Work Procedure You will find the “Make-Up Work” board at the front of the room. This is where any and all make up work will be if you missed a day of school. It is THE STUDENT’S responsibility to make up any work missed due to absences. When a student returns to class, he/she should follow the procedure for missed work provided by the teacher. A student has 1 day to make up any work for every 1 day missed.
22
Tests/Quizzes Tests are announced at least 3 days in advance.
Dates of upcoming test/quizzes are posted on the board along with any other important dates to remember. If a student is present the day of the test and at least 1 of the 3 days prior to the test, he/she will be expected to take the test. Tests may be rescheduled only with the teacher’s permission.
23
Testing Procedures 1. Wait quietly as the tests are being handed out 2. Leave your test face down until given permission to begin 3. When you’re finished quietly turn your test in to the testing bin 4. Begin “finished” activity
24
Study Hall NO TALKING DURING STUDY HALL.
Always have something to do. Study for an upcoming test, do homework/class work, read a book, or write in your journal. Have respect for fellow classmates who are trying to complete homework, study, or read. Students are expected to work quietly by themselves at their desk and remain seated. If a student needs help, they should ask for it without causing a disturbance to the rest of the students.
25
Restroom Breaks Each class is given designated restroom times.
Talking in the hall during the restroom break may result in a student losing their restroom privilege. If a student needs to use the restroom not during these assigned times, they may do so but ONLY IN AN EMERGENCY. If a student has a medical reason for using the restroom more frequently, a doctor’s note will need to be brought to the teacher and school nurse to be kept on file.
26
Lockers Lockers are assigned to each student.
Classes have designated times to go to lockers. Students will have approximately 3 minutes at their lockers to get all supplies needed. While at lockers, students are expected to abide by any rules given to them by their teachers. Failure to comply with these rules may result in loss of locker privileges.
27
Dismissal Procedures Pack up all your belongings
When your group is called line up quietly in the hallway
28
Hallway Procedures No talking at any time while in the hallway. This will help to not disturb any other classes in the building. Stay in the 3rd block. Keep your hands and belongings to yourself.

30

32
