3 EDUCATION STATISTICS 72 million children denied the right to education globally  Over 50% live in Sub-Saharan Africa  More than 20% in South and West Asia  54% of children not attending school are girls  Numbers are decreasing but global development goals have not been achieved (FMECD, 2015)

5 TRANSPORTATION AND EDUCATION Many children have to walk 2+ hours to school. This means: Attendance is low Focus/attention levels are low Grades decrease

7 COUNTRY CONFLICT 82% of out of school children are living in crisis or post-conflict countries

8 CHILD LABOUR 10.5 million children around the world are being exploited as labourers Many are isolated from their families Many never experience a true childhood All are stripped of their right to education, meaning as adults:  They are often illiterate and unable to better their situation
