My name is Samuel Adams. This is my story as told by Mrs. Swetits. I was an American Patriot, Journalist, and Statesman

A few facts about myself. Born September 27, 1722 in Boston, Massachusetts Father, Samuel was a brewer Mother, Mary was a homemaker 12 children – all but 3 died Boston Grammar School and Harvard College (1743) Famous cousin – John Adams became 2 nd President Married twice and had 5 children

My life before the Revolutionary War Started newspaper, The Independent Advertiser in 1748 and wrote about politics. Active member of the “Sons of Liberty” 1765 elected to the Massachusetts General Assembly. 1772 helped to form Committees of Correspondence With Paul Revere, led “The Boston Tea Party” on December 16, 1773. 1774 elected to First Continental Congress in Philadelphia.

My life during the Revolutionary War 1775 elected to Second Continental Congress July 4, 1776 signed the “Declaration of Independence” Continued to write and rally the Patriots Served in the Continental Congress until 1781

My life after the Revolutionary War delegate to the Constitutional Convention and insisted on the “Bill of Rights” 1789 elected Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts 1794 became Governor of Massachusetts
