THE GIRLS’ HONOR MISSION! Girls’ Honor is dedicated to empowering the women of Kentridge and our community through service and personal commitment to excellence!

REQUIREMENTS Must maintain a 3.25 GPA! 5 hours of service a semester is the minimum! Aim service towards helping women and girls! To be a… Bronze Member: 5 hours Silver Member: 10 hours Gold Member: 15+ hours Every semester, a log sheet is due along with a snap shot of your GPA! Log sheet can be found on Mrs. Poindexter-Turk’s Swift site!

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE WITH NHS AND KEY CLUB Students will bring the supplies to their 1 st periods There will be a competition to see which 1 st period donates the most supplies We are going to get boxes and plastic bags (labeled) for each 1 st period Officers from NHS, Girls’ Honor, and Key Club will collect the supplies Monday and Thursday Supplies will be delivered to Bailey Gatzert Elementary on Friday, October 9 th !

REMEMBER NHU This organization helps young girls and boys who are sold into the sex trade in Thailand and other countries. This organization has a religious (Christian) factor but we won’t be focusing on that part! This is a good organization that definitely helps girls and children! www.remembernhu.org

MCC “MIX IT UP” WEEK AND REMEMBER NHU AWARENESS MCC has invited us to be part of the Mix It Up week! We will bring attention to “Remember Nhu” on Wednesday October 28 th during all three lunches. We need 3-4 girls to work at each of the lunches. In order to work at the lunches, you will need to attend the “Remember Nhu” Awareness party on October 20 th after school in room 109. This will give you first hand information about the organization. Awareness Parties: “Awareness parties are a fun way to help spread Remember Nhu’s message and fundraise in a personal way. We provide you with an Awareness Party Kit which includes invitations, DVD’s to show, brochures to pass out and handmade merchandise to sell from our Vocational Training Centers.” You will earn a ½ hour of international community service for attending the Awareness Party and ½ hour for working at one of the lunches, which will help you get to go to WE DAY!

CLOTHING DRIVE FOR REMEMBER NHU We will collect clothes for Remember Nhu orphans during the first week of November. We will need members to help with advertising this. We will collect clothes through first periods. A list of what kinds of clothes are needed will be given out at the Awareness Party and during Mix It Up Week.

OPTIONAL FIELD TRIP! November 19th at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center! 100% optional! Field trip forms will be available at the November meeting! We can take up to 40 members, so it will be first come, first serve. We will need 2-3 chaperones. It will cost $5.00 per person. Payable after the November meeting.

Those who complete the local and global project we provide will have first consideration for a spot! LOCAL: School Supply Drive with NHS and Key Club! GLOBAL: Amnesty International USA or Remember Nhu
