Strategic Project Management 1 SPM Processes Project Management Processes zA process is "a series of actions bringing about a result". zThe purpose of project management processes is to identify, establish, coordinate, and monitor the activities and resources necessary for a project to produce the product or service that best satisfies the project objectives.

Strategic Project Management 5 SPM Processes Processes within Process Groups zPMI BOK Figures 3-4 through 3-8 show the processes within each of the process groups. ythere are a few differences between 1996 ed. and 2000 ed. (primarily for Risk Mgmt) zIn this course, our focus will primarily be in the Planning Group (Fig. 3-5) and the Controlling Group (Fig 3-7). yLet’s take a look at these two figures.
