European Commission DG Information Society“Take-up” “Aimed at transferring leading-edge as well as established but insufficiently deployed methodologies and technologies to industry and other organisations in order to achieve greater efficiency” time innovators early adopters early majority Technology Transfer RTD Commercial Phase “T a k e - u p”
4
European Commission DG Information SocietyInnovators technology enthusiasts appreciate technology for its own sake the gatekeepers for any new technology few requirements, but truth, access and being first to get it evaluator and key influencer for the next group
5
European Commission DG Information Society Early adopters the visionaires can match technology to strategic breakthrough opportunity driven by a dream, but business goal, not technical goal least price-sensitive, willing to take investment risks easy to sell to, hard to please
6
European Commission DG Information Society Early Majority the pragmatists do not want to be pioneers goal is to make improvement, predictable progress want to know how their peers managed hard to win over, but loyal once won like to see competition
7
European Commission DG Information Society “Take-up types Trials: –evaluation of promising, yet not fully established technologies & solutions –targets early adopters+ early majority Best practice actions: – promote take-up of well established technologies & methods –targets early majority

32
European Commission DG Information Society Multinationality Requirements for Take-up Proposals Principal Contractors have to be single or have to fulfil multinationality requirements for RTD projects In case of one Principle Contractor, no multinationality requirements for Members Individual proposals must have a European Dimension, e.g. results and experiences are of broader interest and are disseminated across Europe
33
European Commission DG Information Society Proposals for Pro-active Dissemination and Technology Transfer could be submitted under AL VIII.1.2 : Networks of Excellence/ Working Groups (Thematic Networks) could be submitted by principle contractors of thematic clusters to complement their work could include partners with good links to industry (e.g. chambers of commerce, industrial sector associations, standardisation groups, …) could be focused on technical themes and/or industrial sectors could be based on results and experiences, including from thematic take-up clusters should describe in detail the target audience, methodology and channels to be used to reach it, hard success criteria
