2 Renaissance Murals Murals were considered the highest form in painting because their purpose was to illustrate religious lessons to people who could not read. At this time most people did not have any formal education.

3 Mexican Revolution Artist Diego Rivera studied Renaissance murals and used what he had learned to help educate illiterate people about national ideals. Here he is illustrating Mexican history in a mural at the Presidential Palace.

Here he is illustrating Mexican history in a mural at the Presidential Palace. Muralist/artist Judy Baca organized over 400 teenagers in Los Angeles to paint a mural over 2,400 feet. The mural’s images represented the history, culture, and diversity of the cities population.

12 Social Issue Campaigns Advertising-like methods are used to get social issue messages across to the public. They use all forms of media that they know their audience pays attention to.
