11 It already has... Brochstein Pavilion Two new residential colleges funded and under construction $45.9 million in scholarship endowments $7.1 million in gifts to fund collaborative research between Rice and other TMC institutions

12 It already has... 8 new endowed faculty chairs New Ph.D. programs in Art History and Sociology $7.8M to fund initiatives to improve K-12 education in Houston Rice Annual Fund has increased 50% over a 4 year period

13 Transforming extraordinary students into extraordinary leaders. The Centennial Campaign will fuel the expansion of our deeply-held commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and prepare the next generation of leaders to make a distinctive impact in the world. Goal: $400M

14 What will be better? 25% increase in the endowed scholarship budget New educational models applied to universities across the globe 100% of students will have opportunities to participate in research or other original work Intense focus on communication skills and leadership development A dynamic and energetic campus life

15 Facing challenges. Generating solutions. The Centennial Campaign will generate extensive investment in our research enterprise so that we can put our interdisciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations to work to solve problems that face us all. Goal: $310M

Rice will become known nationally for biomedical research Rice will be one of the great centers for energy research and education in the world Our basic science research will launch discoveries that fuel the development of new technologies 40 – 50 endowed chairs to recruit and retain outstanding faculty

17 Learning and leading, locally and globally. The Centennial Campaign will foster partnerships with leading institutions in Houston and across the world that will benefit our students and faculty and extend our global reach. Goal: $290M

Every student will have the opportunity for an international experience Solutions to the many challenges that face our city will be replicated across the world We will attract talent to the city of Houston and prepare the workforce of this city’s future Improved professional development and training for local educators and non-profit leaders Research and collaborative relationships in Asia and Latin America
