Tobias Wolfe’s “Powder” Read “Powder” (p. 687) 1. Brainstorm a list of abstract nouns (subjects) related to story and then establish a theme of the story based off of one of them. Think about the following: What does the boy learn from the experience? What can we as readers learn from what he learned? 2. If a Hollywood executive were to decide to turn this story into a film, who would you cast as either the father or the son (pick one)? Why would that actor be good (talents, previous roles, etc.)?
