Texas Success Initiative (TSI) 3 Components 1.A pre-assessment activity 2.An assessment to diagnose students basic skills in reading, math and writing 3.Developmental instruction if needed

TSI Exemptions/Waivers SAT/ACT/STAAR/TAKS Cut Scores Enrolled in a Level 1 Certificate Associate Degree or Higher Graduate Transfer in with a College Level Class TSI Met at another institution ESOL Program Non-Degree and Non-Certificate seeking

Computer Literacy – Background Core Requirement Prior to Core 2010 Enrollment patterns indicated Computer Course as last four courses of students Core work.

Computer Literacy – Background Feedback from students, faculty, librarians, and advisors Computer literate even when not Students need computer skills but at the beginning of their college career Students transferring without being Core complete. No COSC core requirement at 4 year institutions that most of our DCCCD students transfer. Some 4 year institutions have a pre-core requirement.

Computer Literacy Computer Literacy Met Passing ACCUPLACER Computer Skills Placement Test (CSP) Or completing one of several computer course CSP 4 Knowledge Areas Computer Fundamentals- Basic Concepts, File Management, Information and Communication Word Processing Spreadsheets Presentation

Exemptions/Waivers Exemptions Have completed ITSC 1401, BCIS 1405, COSC 1300, COSC 1301, COSC 1401, POFI 1301, or equivalent within the last ten years with a grade of "C" or better. Students who are 65 years of age and older Students with 12 or more college level hours Waivers (temporary action, future action required by advisor) Seeking career and technical education through an Associate of Applied Sciences degree, a certificate, or credit contract training program. Are transient university students. Are Dual Credit students who have not graduated from high school.

Learning Frameworks - History Core 2009 Committee recognized many students, especially FTIC need more support as they encounter the academic challenge of a college experience. The Core 2009 Committee recommended the DCCCD develop and adopt a Learning Frameworks course

Learning Frameworks - Goals EDUC 1300 addresses factors that impact learning, including research and theory in learning; strategies to monitor, regulate and control cognition, motivation and behavior; and the ability to think ethically and critically.
