What is precipitation? What is rain? What is snow? What is sleet? What is hail?

Precipitation 1.Precipitation is water in solid or liquid form, that falls from the air to the earth. 2. Rain is the liquid form of precipitation and is produced when a cloud’s water droplets become large enough to fall.
4
Precipitation Snow and sleet
3. The most common form of solid precipitation is snow. Snow forms when temperatures are so cold that water vapor changes directly to a solid. 4. Sleet, also called freezing rain forms when rain falls through a freezing layer of air.
5
Precipitation 5. Hail Solid precipitation that falls as balls or lumps of ice. Forms in cumulonimbus clouds. Updrafts in these clouds carry raindrops to high altitudes. As the frozen raindrops fall, they collide and combine with water droplets. The process can be repeated again and again, forming layer over layer of ice. Eventually the hail becomes heavy and falls to earth.
