2
Advantages, Disadvantages, Practical Application For Solar Hot Water Heating System
3
Advantages -commercially available -simple, no moving parts, nothing to break down, free fuel and no pollution -most cost-effective use of solar energy in many climates. -significantly reduce water heating bills -little operation and maintenance -completely automatic and are left in operation year-round
4
Disadvantages Space -need large enough space for the solar collectors Exposure -solar collectors must be properly exposed to the sun Orientation -need to face the solar collector in the east direction. Bracing -the storage tank will be on the roof if you choose a passive solar water heater
5
Practical Applications -swimming pool. -operation cost is less then the gas and heat pump pool heaters -they have a very low annual operating costs.

Solar Swimming Pool Heaters
7
Solar Process Heat: -Hot water heating for schools, office buildings, prisons, and military bases. -consists of several thousand square feet of ground-mounted collectors, pumps, heat exchangers, controls, and one or more large storage tanks. -provide large quantities of hot water for nonresidential buildings
8
Environmental Impact -help preserve our natural gas supplies and decrease air pollution
