1 College Credit Plus Streetsboro City Schools February 19 th, 2015

2 What is College Credit Plus (CCP)? Replaces Ohio’s current Post Secondary Educational Option (PSEO) and dual enrollment programs All public high schools and public colleges/universities must offer this option o Private colleges and universities may choose to participate but aren’t required to Students can earn High School and college credit at the same time

3 College Credit Plus Students may be required to take an entrance exam if required by the college at the families expense Only courses used towards a degree program are allowed to be taken by students Remedial courses are not permitted Religious courses are not permitted School districts must verify that students do not exceed 30 credit hours in one year

4 College Credit Plus All courses will use the same resources and materials that the college/university utilizes At the end of the course, all textbooks will be returned to the high school. Students are not permitted to keep or sell them If a student fails a course, the family is responsible for paying the entire cost of the course

5 Higher Education Responsibilities Assign a mentor to each student Meet with each student prior to the no fault drop/withdrawal date (either online or face to face)

7 Preference given to upperclassmen If too many students sign up for this in Ohio, the state will give preference to seniors first followed by the lower grades in reverse order

8 Is this the right choice for your child? Are they self motivated? Are they socially aware with others; including people 1-10 years older then they are? Can you (as a parent) handle not having constant contact with your child’s teacher/professor? Can your child be transported each day? Do they want to attend school IN STATE after high school? Do they want to attend a public college or university?
