5 CLASSROOM PROCEDURES Challenges – Preview questions for weekly quiz on Friday Activity- class, group, partner or individual Review/Reflection- concepts discussed, preview upcoming projects and events, complete C4Us (check for understanding)

6 CLASSROOM POLICIES Grading: Daily Assignments/Quizzes 50% Homework 10% Tests/ Projects 40% * Extra credit assignments are not available in advanced classes.

7 CLASSROOM POLICIES Make-up Work: It is the student’s responsibility to schedule make up work with the appropriate teacher. If absent, he/she will be given 1 day for every day absent to turn in work. Missing Work: If schoolwork is not turned in during class on the due date, a missing grade will be entered for the student. Missing work must be turned in within 3 days past the deadline, with penalty of 10 points the first day late, 20 points the second day late, and 30 points the third day. It will not be accepted after the 3 rd day.

8 CLASSROOM POLICIES Projects/Tests: Students may only make up a test/project if the original test/project score is a 69 or less, but it must be made up within 10 school days of receiving the original score. The students are only allowed to retest one time per assessment – with a maximum score of 70% Students earning a failing TEST/PROJECT grade will be required to attend mandatory tutoring for re- teaching of concepts and to discuss performance recommendations for remediation within 3 days of the failing grade posted.

9 CLASSROOM POLICIES Daily, Quiz & Homework Assignments: Students may not redo/correct any homework or daily work that has a failing grade, however it is strongly advised that the student should attend tutorials to work on missed concepts. Note: ALTERNATIVE or EXTRA CREDIT assignments to replace low grades is not available in advanced classes

10 Frequently Asked Questions Q- What do I do if I am absent from class? A- First- After you return to school bring absent note from parent/guardian to the front office. Second- Check classroom calendar and assignment folders for any assignment you missed while absent. Third- Copy Challenge questions from binder (on front of my desk) for the days you were absent. After attempting questions, check with me for any corrections needed. * Remember, you are quizzed every Friday over these questions. It is your responsibility to complete all missing work due to an absence.

11 Frequently Asked Questions Q- Do we have a lot of tests and quizzes? A- A- You have a weekly quiz every Friday in which you use your Challenge questions, class notes, vocabulary assigned and graded assignments from the week. Each Six Weeks has at least 2 scheduled test/projects grades. It may be a written test, a class presentation or a project assigned.

12 Frequently Asked Questions Q- How can I raise my grade? A- Test retakes, form a study group, review notebook Review guides Attend Tutorials (Tues/Thurs 3:35-4:15) Complete and turn in missing work within the 3 day grace period from original due date.
