IT WAS DESIGNED BY THE FAMOUS SCULPTOR OF THE TIME, PHIDIAS AROUND 430 BC AND PLACED IN THE TEMPLE OF ZEUS IN ANCIENT OLYMPIA IN ELIS, WESTERN PELOPONNESE, NEAR THE RIVER ALPHEUS.
