5 ***Remember*** Solid Liquid Gas Endothermic – energy is absorbed (added). Gas Liquid Solid Exothermic – energy is released (removed).

6 How can we illustrate what happens to the temperature of each phase as energy is added or lost? We can draw what’s called a phase change diagram. This is a diagram (graph) that shows what happens to the kinetic energy (temperature) of a substance as heat is added over time. Sometimes we call a phase change diagram a heating or cooling curve.
