EVIDENCE o AT THE END OF THE EXPERIMENT WE FOUND THAT THE TEMPERATURE OF THE HOT CAN (37 C) WAS WARMER THAN THE CONTROLLED CAN (33.4 C) BY 3.6 DEGREES, AND THE CHILLED CAN (30.1C) WAS COOLER THAN THE CONTROLLED CAN (33.4 C) BY 3.3 DEGREES. THEREFORE OUR ARRANGEMENT WORKED BECAUSE THE DATA SHOWS THAT THE HOT SYSTEM WAS KEPT WARMER THAN THE CONTROLLED CAN AND VISE VERSA FOR THE COLD SYSTEM. HOT CAN DIAGRAM Vinegar + Steel Wool Chemical Reaction Can Of Water o THIS ARRANGEMENT USED THE HEATING STRATEGY OF CONDUCTION TO HEAT UP THE WATER IN THE CAN BECAUSE THE STEEL WOOL AND VINEGAR SYSTEM MADE DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE CAN

o COLD CAN DIAGRAM o THIS ARRANGEMENT USED THE HEATING STRATEGY OF CONDUCTION TO COOL THE WATER IN THE CAN BECAUSE THE FROZEN CORN SYRUP AND SALT MADE DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE CAN. Cool air In Room Cooled Corn Syrup and Salt Water in Can

MODIFIED DEVICE HOT CAN o PLACE THE HEATER HIGHER UP IN THE CLASSROOM TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF RISING HOT AIR o USE A DIFFERENT GRADE OF STEEL WOOL o USE A DIFFERENT TYPE OF VINEGAR (APPLE CIDER, BALSAMIC…) COLD CAN o TAKE THE CAN OUTSIDE TO DO THE EXPERIMENT o PACK THE INSIDE OF COOLER WITH SALT AND ICE (SURROUND CAN) o USING A DIFFERENT BRAND COULD ALSO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

REAL LIFE EXAMPLES HOT CAN o OBJECT: HAND WARMERS o RELATION: CHEMICAL REACTION SAME AS STEEL WOOL AND VINEGAR COLD CAN o OBJECT: COOLER o RELATION: COOLS ITEMS IN A SEALED ISOLATED ENVIRONMENT
