A3 5.8 Indirect Measurement HW: p. 630-632 1-49 EOO
2
Angles of Elevation and Depression Angle of Elevation: Angle of Depression: Example: Solve the triangle (find all missing pieces).
3
Lots of examples… Example: From a point on level ground 125 ft. from the base of a tower, the angle of elevation is 57.2 degrees. Approximate the height of the tower. Example: A kite flies at a height of 30 feet when 65 feet of string is let out. If the string is in a straight line, find the angle that it makes with the ground.
4
still doing examples… Example: You are taking your first hot-air balloon ride. Your friend is standing on level ground, 100 feet away from your point of launch, making a video of the terrified look on your rapidly ascending face. At one instant, the angle of elevation from the video camera to your face is 31.7 degrees. One minute later, the angle of elevation is 76.2 degrees. How far did you travel during that minute?
5
the last 2 examples… Example: Find x.
