1. Community Safety Task Group Community, Health and Social Care

2. What is this group about? Community Safety is a very important subject for all residents. This is a way of ensuring that community concerns are recognised. Different from some of the other task groups in that most of the work has to be carried out by agencies e.g. Police, Housing, Fire Service etc. Is a very useful way of communicating with community groups about crime trends. Very useful way of collecting community intelligence.

3. Membership Members of the community representing a variety of different organisations. Neighbourhood Manager Neighbourhood Police Inspector Fire Station Commander Community Development Worker Magistrate

4. Task Group Work Ensuring that matters of concern are raised e.g. Pedestrianised area, theft of precious materials, anti-social behaviour hotspots. Feed into the Local Partnership Delivery Group process (multi-agency meeting addressing hotspots and individuals) Feed information from the Police, Fire Service and others back into the community. Determine the priorities for the Community Justice Court.

5. What next? Looking at additional measures for the Town Centre pedestrianised area. Concentrating on helping to prevent burglaries by using community networks and local intelligence to prevent and help with information. Promote Homewatch Continue to feed into the Community Justice process.

6. Why is this group important Provides regular dialogue between the Neighbourhood Inspector and members of the Community. Brings partners with responsibility for community safety together with residents to help address problems. Is useful feedback mechanism for residents. Residents get to set the priorities for Community Justice to ensure that Magistrates are aware of community problems and priorities.
