3 www.global-campaign.org EU Advocacy Goals European Union is politically and financially supportive of microbicides EU funding is effective and efficient EU policy on development, research and health is pro-microbicide EU regulatory policy is not a barrier to microbicide licensing and access EU policy on microbicides recognises and supports the importance of community involvement in the microbicide effort  EU = 25 member states plus the Commission  Commission initiates policy, co-decision with Parliament
