AIR PLANE CRASHES IN ALASKA BY MATT GOULD

Crashes  Alaska is home to fierce weather, which can cause brutal plane crashes. Few of these crashes are caused by pilot error, its most likely weather or a bird can get stuck in an engine.

Crash that broke Alaska  Alaska, also called the bush by some natives had a crash that changed the state. Senator Ted Stevens crashed on a glacier just out side of Alaska's capital Juneau. Sadly he had died along with his five fellow passengers and pilot. Engineers looked at the plane and found a bird stuck in a vital part of the engine.  If Senator Ted Stevens was alive today he would have suffered from a, broken left leg, both arms, two broken ribs and a broken left wrist. Doctors said that he would be in a full body cast for six weeks.

Types Of Planes  Some of the planes they use in Alaska's air travel is the Bush plane and the Tri plane. These two planes are probably the most used and dependable in Alaska’s air travel. They both have there yays and nays, one of the good things about the bush plane is it tires. These fat tiers make it a lot easier for off road landing. Another good thing is the propeller is always tipped up so mud and rocks do not get stuck inside the engine. As for the bad parts its tail rudder is so close to the ground that big rocks might hit it and it could fall off so you would not be able to tern. As for the Tri plane and its three leveled wheels make it a lot easer to land on ice covered runways. Also this plane is a good cargo holler because of its size and aerodynamic ability's.

AFTERWARDS After crashes the survivors go to a hospital and the rescuers leave the plane behind overnight. But some times when they return the plane is smashed even more. The cause is a bear, Alaskan bears are the most ferocious bears in north America. Alaska contains the two most deadly bears in North America, the Grizzly bear and the brown bear.

WEATHER Weather in Alaska is very brutal, especially in the winter. The average temperature in Alaska is 28.8 degrees. Also the average snowfall is 29 inches. In Alaska wind average 20-30 M.P.H there's also cloud coverage in some places 345 days out of a year. As you can see these facts play a big part in air plane crashes. Now this Feature Article comes to a close.

INFO  To learn more click on the bush plane for the Ted Stevens story and the bear for statistics or, the snow-cloud for Mrs. Watson's blog.
