1 Agenda for the week of 1/28: You should be finished your midterm exam! It had three sections: Multiple Choice, Short Answer was completed in session #1. Extended response (essay) was completed in session #2. If you have not completed BOTH portions of the test, please see me immediately. In addition, you should have submitted your 100 point Macbeth CHOICE assignment. They were due the day of the exam.

You should have read articles and collected background information and knowledge for your essay. Make sure you are writing down every source that you use. 5 Agenda for Wednesday & Thursday Agenda for Friday & Monday (2-4) Compare & Contrast Essay Continued SESSION #2 – GRAPHIC ORGANIZER ASSIGNMENT Wednesday & Thursday 1/30 and 1/31 Friday & Monday Due 2/1 and 2/4 = ROUGH DRAFT (end of class) You are being asked to complete a GRAPHIC ORGANIZER today during class. You should be familiar with them since we have completed quite a few this year, together in class. Think BUCKETS! Create one for yourself in Word. For homework: Write/type your ROUGH DRAFT and bring it to class with you next time. I will be walking around and checking for your draft. Remember, the length requirement for this paper is 3-5 pages typed. MLA format is also required. See class website for formatting specifics.

6 Agenda for Tuesday & Wednesday Compare & Contrast Essay DUE Thursday (2/7) or Friday (2/8) SESSION #3 & 4 – FINAL DRAFT ASSIGNMENT Tuesday and Wednesday 2/5 and 2/6 (EXTRA TIME TO WORK ON PAPER OUTSIDE OF CLASS) FINAL PAPER DUE TYPED: 2/7 and 2/8 *Without a printed copy, the paper is considered late. You should have come to class today with your rough draft typed. Today you are finalizing your draft. You should be using the PERDUE OWL website link and working on formatting your paper. Make sure you are sourcing materials that you use and providing a references page with your paper. Make sure, also, that you have a required number of quotes from outside sources included in your paper. Your FINAL DRAFT is due FRIDAY or MONDAY. I have given you an extension. 2/8 or 2/11 at the START* of class. You MUST bring a printed copy with you to class. *Without a printed copy, the paper is considered late.

7 Some IDEAS to help you STRUCTURE your paper Here are 3 ways you might attack this assignment. – There is no ONE WAY to tackle this assignment. – You need to create a structure that works for you. – You need to make sure it is LOGICAL and follows a sequence that FLOWS. GRADES: I am looking for: THESIS and HOOK in the introduction. I am looking for MEAT and SUPPORTING detail in the BODY. I am looking for a well thought out CONCLUSION. I am looking for MLA formatting. I am looking at whether or not you can MEET YOUR DEADLINES. I am HOPING that you spend TIME on this assignment and put in true EFFORT, not just fill the pages with “JIBBORISH.”
