What does RE:NEW do well? Gets you through the door Great customer feedback Combination of advice and easy measures really works to change behaviour Has totally changed how we think regarding saving energy. Extremely helpful and the adviser was so friendly, it was a very positive experience Couldn't have been happier, the scheme has educated me more than any other campaign I'm aware of
3
What does RE:NEW do well? Builds momentum through community engagement – area-based Easy measures, smart meters and advice target electricity use through behaviour change An offer to households who might otherwise miss out – those not eligible for CERT or Warmfront, solid walls, no lofts
4
The offer CESP? LCZ? CERT Warmfront Coldbusters Borough grants Green Deal?
5
Carbon reduction RE:NEW visits intended to generate leads for loft and cavity wall insulation – take-up still unclear … Easy measures 0.30 tonnes CO2 p/a Further measures (insulation) 0.37 tonnes CO2 p/a Leverage of other funding sources is small – smart meters, water saving measures, follow-up insulation
6
RE:NEW doesn’t do so well… Private rented – targets tenants, not landlords Mansion blocks – joint ownership Social landlords – negotiation required Does not target fuel poverty Leverage of other funding sources is small – smart meters, water saving measures, follow-up insulation Full RE:NEW home visits package is expensive to provide and manage
