4 Who Are You? 1.Take some tests. 2. Talk to people who know you. 3. What do you like to do? 4. What fits your lifestyle?

5 1. Take Some Tests Interest Inventories –CHOICES, ASVAB, or other Aptitude Assessments –Kuder, ASVAB, or other Achievement Tests –PLAN, ACT, PSAT, SAT, or other

6 Do What You Are Personality type - the innate way people naturally see the world A set of basic drives and motivations that remain constant People are most successful in jobs that allow them to use their natural gifts

7 You’re Okay There are 16 distinctly different personality types. (ex. ENTJ, ISFP) Non-judgmental - there are no better or worse types. Each type has its own strengths and weaknesses.

8 4 Dimensions of Personality Type Everyone’s personality falls onto one side or the other of the midpoint on each of these four scales. All of us use both sides of all four scales, but we have an inborn preference for one side or the other.

27 Career Decision Making Step 3: Make a Plan! –Set some goals 1. Immediate Goals –Accomplish within 3-4 years 2. Short-Term Goals –Accomplish within 5 to 10 years 3. Long-Term Goals –Define where you want to end up eventually. –Create backup plan - remember related careers areas, be realistic and flexible. –Consider non-traditional careers - there might be an opportunity to do something different or new.
