7 Bones Form a System Muscles Work as a System Each bone is an organ and it provides support and protects your internal organs. There are about 200 bones in your body that give you support and protection. Muscles are organs that work together to move your body. There are about 640 muscles that you control. 8 Organ Systems Work Together The muscle and skeletal system work together to move your body. Muscles pull the bones to make movement in your body. Many organ systems work together in many ways to make a complex organism. For example, your nervous system controls how your muscles move your bones. Nerves carry electrical signals from your brain and spinal cord to your muscles. Without nerves you would never move a muscle.
