Kingdom Plantae Multicellular (many cells) Cell wall (rigidity, structure; plant’s “skeleton”) Green = chlorophyll in leaf Make food (autotroph) by photosynthesis Water + CO 2 + sunlight → Oxygen + sugar “food”
3
Kingdom Plantae Nonvascular Plants = plants without tubes Short, simple, spongy, fuzzy, live moist places, without true stems ex: mosses, lichen, liverworts, hornworts Vascular Plants = containing tubes in root, stem and leaves (xylem-high; phloem-low) Ex: Ferns = no seeds (spores), spear-like fronds Gymnosperms = needle leaf, seeds on cones Angiosperms = flowering plants with seeds inside fruit (protects & spreads seeds around)
