Lemonade Logic Try using logical reasoning to solve this challenge: Max is selling lemonade. He has an 8-gallon jug full of lemonade, an empty 3-gallon jug and an empty 5-gallon jug. Jean would like to buy exactly four gallons of lemonade. How can Max measure exactly four gallons of lemonade, using only these jugs? 8 5 3 Solution Previous Index Next From www.boxermath.com

Lemonade Logic Solution Max can fill the 3-gallon jug with lemonade, and then pour that lemonade into the 5-gallon jug. Then he can fill the 3-gallon jug from the 8-gallon jug again, and pour that lemonade into the 5-gallon jug until it is full. Next, he must pour the lemonade from the 5-gallon jug back into the 8-gallon jug. Then he can pour the lemonade from the 3-gallon jug into the 5- gallon jug. Finally, he fills up the 3-gallon jug from the 8-gallon jug again. He will then have exactly four gallons of lemonade left in the 8- gallon jug. Previous Index Next
