History Explorers We will be continuing with our theme of Explorers in History. The children will ask and answer questions about explorers such as Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong. Science Materials The children will experiment with different types of materials. They will consider the properties of materials and why certain materials are chosen for objects. PE Class 2 will be working with Qualified Sports Coach Elliot Favell on a range of fitness and ball skills. Please ensure your child brings the correct and named PE kit every Monday morning for the week ahead. Art/DT Form For DT week the children will work on their sewing skills to create hand puppets. They will design and evaluate their creations. In Art they will continue to look at sculpture. RE Jesus’s life as a Child Light at Christmas In RE, the children will learn about Jesus’s life as a child. They will look at relevant Biblical materials. Numeracy The children will be learning about measuring with different units of measure. They will practise telling the time on analogue and digital clocks. Discussions about time at home would be very beneficial. There will also be opportunities for the children to look at open ended investigations. Literacy Roald Dahl’s classic story The Twits will be our focus this half term in Literacy. We will link this to writing non fiction texts. We will have a weekly guided reading session, and will continue to work on phonics and joining our handwriting. The children will have a weekly spelling test.
