Educational Evaluators Inc., Rockaway, New Jersey 973-460-0404 eei.strategies@gmail.com 3 Introduction WAIT Training aims to reduce out-of-wedlock pregnancies and lower STD rates among the targeted population by: Empowering youth to make healthy decisions about sexuality Promoting a commitment to an abstinent lifestyle until marriage The facilitators implemented WAIT Training, an abstinence- until-marriage education curriculum.

These areas include: Metro Denver, Mountain Communities, Mesa and Montrose Counties, and La Plata County. A 26-item questionnaire was administered before the start (pre-test) and a 26-item questionnaire (post-test), which included all pre-test items, was administered at the end of the program. Favorable responses were collapsed into a single category of total responses for both pre and post test and represented as a percentage shift. “Strongly Agree,” “Agree” and “Somewhat Agree” were collapsed into “All Agree.” “Strongly Disagree,” “Disagree” and “Somewhat Disagree” were collapsed into “All Disagree,” when favorable.

Educational Evaluators Inc., Rockaway, New Jersey 973-460-0404 eei.strategies@gmail.com 20 Conclusion Pre-post data demonstrates statistical significance from pre to post within 26 items which represent the following categories: Peer Self- Esteem, Communication, Attitudes about Abstinence, Knowledge, Beliefs that Match the A-H Principles, Behavioral Intentions, and Present and Recent Behavior. Based on pre-post preliminary results, the initial assessment is that WAIT Training is demonstrating immediate impact among participating youth as demonstrated by percentage increases and statistically significant favorable shifts ranging from 4.2% to 22.8%. Present results are encouraging and reflect the goal of this program. WAIT Training has met its aim to educate and support teen decisions to postpone sexual activity in preparation for marriage.
