Grasslands By: Lauren, Clark, and Jack

Location Grasslands are located in Africa, Australia, South America, and India. The largest example of the grasslands are in Africa.

Types of grasslands  There are temperate grasslands and savannas.  Savannas and temperate grasslands. In the savannas when it rains savanna bunch grasses grow in abundance. In temperate grasslands plants such as trees and flowers grow there.  Temperate grasslands are in Asia and Australia, while savannas are in Africa and South America.

Climate  There are two seasons in the grasslands.  The wet season is the only time it rains all year. In the dry season no rain falls at all.

Climate  The average temperature in the dry season can be over 100 degrees fahrenheit. The average temperature in the wet season can get as cold as -40 degrees fahrenheit. Wow! Hot but cold.  The average rainfall is 20-50 inches per year. Snow in the grasslands serve as a reservoir for moisture in the ground.

Producers  There are cottonwoods, oaks, sunflowers, clovers, wild indigos, and forbs.  There is a colossus amount of producers.

Worms

Biome destruction  Humans are affecting the grasslands because more civilizations are being built and poachers are creating fires to clear away grass to hunt animals. Livestock are overgrazing and plowing are the two most threatening things for the grasslands.

Conservation People are trying to convince other people to save the grasslands because they are so beautiful. People are trying to convince other people to save the grasslands because they are so beautiful.
