D. Jackson Attacks the National Bank 1. Jackson v. BUS 2. Jackson’s view of the Bank 3. Jackson’s attempt to shut it down 4. The bank president tried to save it by calling for all loans to be paid. Caused many businesses to go bankrupt. 5. This caused Bank to lose support. 1836- went out of business.

E. Those angry with Jackson formed the Whig Party. F. Jackson retired. His VP- Martin Van Buren- won the Election of 1836. G. Jackson’s legacy- many problems- Panic of 1837 H. Election of 1840- Van Buren lost to William Henry Harrison. I. Harrison died, John Tyler became president
