Syllabus Content Students learn about; -the relationship between sport and the mass media -the representation of sport in the media economic considerations of media coverage and sport Students learn to; -think critically about the impact of the mass media on sport by investigating questions such as: who benefits and in what ways? -how does the media influence our understanding of sporting events? -how have sports been changed to suit the needs of the media, eg uniforms, rule modifications, structure to accommodate advertising breaks

How Media Coverage Is Given…… Less broadcasts on TV- eg ANZ Netball Broadcasts are on in non primetime slots Feminie language Fewer articles Harder to find in paper Often are sexualised Article photos can be unrelated to sport Athletes have a much lower profile
