Making students feel welcome Multicultural Education activities Involve parents and community resources The more comfortable and welcome students feel, the more likely parents will be involved

Newcomers’ Center Intensive English language instruction School “survival” skills, plus basic concepts in language arts, social studies, science, math, and health education

ELL Parent Classes Familiarize parents with ASD schools, the Anchorage community and the United States. Teach conversational English, reading and writing and help prepare parents for citizenship tests.
