2 Computers can raise student achievement and even improve school’s climate but they have to be placed in the right hands and used in the right way. Technology can have positive benefits but those benefits depend upon how technology is used. These benefits increase as the use of technology becomes more sophisticated. (Wenglinsky, H., “How does it compute?” A study of the relationship between educational technology and student achievement in mathematics of 4 th and 8 th graders, www.milkenexchange.org) www.milkenexchange.org

3 The standards for technology use in education are intended to be addressed within the educational system, woven into all content areas and throughout the learning process. When these standards are met, technology will be used as a tool for learning, communication, decision-making and productivity for all teachers and students. (www.ISTE.org)

6 Microsoft seems to state it best way with its vision for technology in education: “We won’t be limited by the hours of the school day, the walls of a classroom, or the resources of an individual community. The usual barriers of time, distance, convenience, and access will diminish… Students will acquire information skills they need to become lifelong learners and a passion for exploration and discovery.”

7 Technology Integration Example Course: Literary Development Grade 7 Project: Timeline based upon Book Software used: Microsoft Publisher
