2 2 High Level Goals What do you want to accomplish for your school, region or country? Look at long-term (3-5 years) and short-term goals (1-2 years) Long term goals –Implement science inquiry in secondary schools –Enhance the culture of innovation within education system. –Institutionalize management of science fairs and science programs for primary and secondary schools –Double to triple the number of students participating in science fairs within 3-4 years –Keep the momentum of current support system, including Govt, judges, mentors, high schools, etc –Promote the Intel ISEF finalists. Short term goals –Establish a bank of mentors to assist students –Start a new fair (Palestine Science and Engineering Fair -PalSEF) –Improve scientific review and judging –Integrating “School Initiative” which is a component in the e–learning project implemented in the Ministry in the period 2010-2014 to support developing science inquiry. –Review and improve science curriculum to enhance 21 st centaury skills like higher order thinking skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and innovation. –Develop new Technology curriculum taking into consideration enhancing project-based learning, acquiring the skills of applying the theoretical knowledge into practical applications in daily life.

Activation School Science Fair. Publish and distribute 1800 copies of journals and CDs of award projects to all high schools Activation summer camps to enhance the culture of science as style of solving problems in daily life.

5 5 Intel ISEF Educator Academy Reflection - To be done Thursday May 13th As a result of your participation in the 2010 Educator Academy, reflect on your experience –Highlight what your team felt was the key learning from the Educator Academy What impressed you the most?  Exchange and looking to the experiences in different countries for developing national plan which reflects Palestinian context.  Identify the quality of students projects from different countries, its level, contribution in solving problems facing the world like warming, energy, etc.  Enhancing networking with participants from other countries –Which Shop Talks were the most beneficial for your team? o Partnering with Universities to create blueprint for international science fairs. o Free online tools and resources for your students and teacher. o Telling their research story: coaching materials to help your students successful. o Making science students into Rock stars in China through creative PR activities What would you improve? –What types of Shop Talks were missing? o Absence of the students and parents presence through the talk o Missing information about systemic monitoring and evaluation
