1 6. How did people handle the Plague? They were religious fanatics who beat each other up as way to limit evil spirits. Flagellants went after Jewish communities. They clearly blames Jews for the illness. Medical—blood-letting was used, and some were kept isolated. Although priests came to the aid of those who were dying, many believed that the church was going after people who committed sins.

3 The church was in crisis. One pope resided in France and the other pope resided in Rome. This left many believers confused about Christianity. The power of the church declined.
