1 Ms. Justice’s 4th Grade Class Raymond Case Elementary 2015-2016

2 Welcome Fourth grade is a transitional year. Students are:  Moving from primary to intermediate  becoming more independent  reading to learn vs. learning to read School should be FUN! It’s my goal to make school something they look forward to. We will learn a lot AND have fun while doing so.

Tues/Thurs. @ 11 am) 12:00 - 12:40 LUNCH 12:40 - 1:00 Reading (Independent or Aloud) 1:00 - 1:30 Social Studies / Science 1:35 - 2:20 WIN (What I Need – workshop, leveled grouping) 2:20 DISMISSAL *P.E. will be on Tues./Thurs. *Computers will be on Weds. *Thursdays are Early-Out – students dismissed at 1:30pm

7 Homework Policy Homework is worth 25% of your child’s grade. Assigned Mon.-Thurs. ~ posted daily/weekly on class website. Homework will take approximately 60 minutes per night. Typical Weekly HW – math, spelling, reading Parents signature or initial in student’s agenda every night when all of the homework has completed. (Will be checked on Fridays) No homework = no recess (HW will be completed at recess) Projects receive full credit on the deadline. If late, grade will drop points each day it is late.

8 If student is absent:  You may pick up homework from the office IF teacher is notified the morning of the absence or sooner (and teacher has time).  will receive the same number of days to complete homework and class work for their absent. (ex: student is absent for two days, then the work is due two days upon returning to school).  Any long-term projects, such as science projects or reports, are not given extra time if students are absent. Graded work will be returned every two weeks for parent to review. Parent signature is required for tests with letter grade less than a “C- ”. Students who receive lower than 70% on any math test will be able to take the test home to correct and return for an adjusted grade up to 70%.
