2 HISTORY OF FLAG FOOTBALL Flag football started because it was safer than tackle football Flag football was really popular on military bases. Flag football is officially dated back to 1933. The first flag football organization was formed in the 1960s The University of New Orleans hosted the first college flag football championship in 1979.

3 FLAG FOOTBALL RULES Each team can only have 14 players There are no fumbles. The ball is dead where it lands. Each team has two time outs per half There are no fake punts on 4 th down. Players can’t wear hats or bandanas
