The Experiments – progress and status Roger Barlow GridPP7 Oxford 2 nd July 2003
2
ATLAS MC production on the way (AtCom) Generic configuration editor JOE Ongoing work on packaging, installation tools, job submission and replica catalogs Low-level activity on Data Challenge Move on from EDG and prepare for LCG1 – delay leads to delay in deliverables
3
CMS Reconstruction code ORCA gridified Progress with POOL, Guido, BOSS and R-GMA, EDG and LCG0 testbeds Problems: Grid-standard replica manager unsatisfactory for >2000 files. Threatening deliverables Install SRB at ATLAS datastore – it works!
4
Ganga Prototype presented to users got negative response Streamlined and simplified, CLI enhanced Revised version approved by users (specially LHCb) 1 month workshop at LBL to cut across problems of line management at different institutes and implement software bus design
5
LHCb POOL file catalog with mySQL Monte Carlo production Monitoring and work-flow Late deliverable – online histogramming – too specific, being revised
6
BaBar Prototype job submission and retrieval (x2) Held up by unreliability of Resource Broker and by changes in computing model Thrashing Tier 1/A
7
CDF Good progress on MC production And on CDF production system Delays caused by RAL testbed Rick St Denis heading SAM group and very busy!
8
DØ UK Production MC in good shape. Working testbed. Main problem is the merging of output files from many nodes. MC storage Karlsruhe to FNAL Gridification of SAM continues Runjob – joint project with CMS – taken up by CDF
9
UKQCD Phase I – Datagrid – complete –Replica manager managing replicas of several thousand files across several sites. Globus/LDAP –Linking up with International Lattice Grid Phase II – ComputeGrid – underway –Using EDG components. Thwarted by Condor not being open-source

Summary Much has been done Much is being done Much remains to be done
