What are the six main steps in Quan and Qual research? What do they consist of? (Cresswell 2005). Six groups.

What can be said about the history of the two designs? (Cresswell 2005) Quantitative Research: Started much earlier Since 1880 researchers are using statistic procedures Mental tests are being done since 1890 and aptitude tests since 1920s Standardized tests for children in schools since 1980s Group comparisons (experimental designs) are being made since 1900

(Cresswell 2005) Qualitative Research: Only in the 1970s did they begin to propose alternative paradigms and since then until now they have been trying to clarify differences among them Only in the 1980s did they begin to present models for how to design QR, how to analyze the data, etc. Only in the 1990s did they begin to “advance ideas” (publish?) about ethnography Narrative research only began to be used in the 1990s *Only in the 90s did they begin to consider feminist, racial, identity issues *Only in the 2000s did they begin to use collaborative participatory approaches
